#StreetsForLife #Love30: Commemoration of Global Road Safety Week (May 16-22, 2022)

Turn-Over Ceremony of Road Safety Work and Advocacy in the Cities of San Pedro, Laguna and Muntinlupa

The Cities of San Pedro (SP) and Muntinlupa, together with The Policy Center, celebrated their road safety work, advocacy and achievements during the United Nation’s Global Road Safety Week held last May 18, 2022 (Wednesday). This event was marked by turn-over ceremonies which included the handing over of the draft Road Safety Code, Local Action Plan, Documentation of Enforcement Challenges and Recommendations specifically of R.A. 11229, Monitoring Tools, Advocacy and Communication Plans and their Social Media Calendar.

Key government officials in both cities graced the event and delivered special messages – Ms. Lirio Rivera [Head, SP Public Order and Safety Office or POSO]; Ms. Bernardita S. Timonera [LTO San Pedro]; Ms. Clarissa A. Sulit [LTO R4A Operations Division]; Dr. Robert Olivarez [Chief, SP City Health Office]; Mr. Vernet Nico A. Pavino [SP City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office], Mr. Ronald Ramilo [Asst Superintendent SP Department of Education]; Ms. Lenie Bautista [SP Department of Interior and Local Government]; and PLt. Crisando Catalay [SP Philippine National Police]. The local enforcement officers and POSO personnel who have been the very active partners in this road safety initiative were also there to celebrate and they were led by the very able Ms. Aring Vitug and Mr. Richard Pustasa, who moved this endeavor forward towards its success. For Muntinlupa, Mr. Frederick Mario R. Ubaldo [Chief Transportation Regulation Officer and current Head of Office, LTO Muntinlupa District Office] gave a very supportive and encouraging speech for the road safety movers of the city.

Both outgoing local chief executives of the cities were also present to receive The Policy Center’s Plaque of Recognition and Turn-Over Binder Packet, the Honorable Lourdes S. Cataquiz of San Pedro and Honorable Jaime Fresnedi of Muntinlupa.

Dr. Beverly Ho of the Department of Health (Central) also gave an inspiring video message to encourage the cities to continue their road safety work.

The partnership was made possible by the support provided by the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) to the project, Mobilizing Stakeholders in Aid of the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act (R.A. 11229) Implementation.
