Let’s #CommitToAct towards Road Safety
While The Policy Center’s road safety partnership with the pilot local government units (LGUs) technically ended, the relationship with the cities, national government agencies and the commitment to act towards road safety did not. During this UN Global Road Safety Week with the theme, StreetsForLife: Why #Love30?, The Policy Center launches its online orientation course entitled, “Road Safety Management: Preparing Your LGUs”.
This pilot online road safety course is an attempt to institutionalize and encourage road safety policies and programs at the local level. The course is customized for participants working at LGU offices focused on all or any aspect of road safety. Advocates from civil society, non-government and people’s organizations are also welcome to take the course, including sectors who are considered vulnerable road users (i.e., children, senior citizens and persons with disability). It is preferred that the course be taken by groups (an office or unit) at a time than individual.
This course is introductory and self-paced with seven topics of about 15-20 minutes each with quizzes and take home assignments/templates to be filled-out by participants so that they can draft their own road safety ordinance and/or local action plan. Deeper study of the topics will require special sessions upon request to The Policy Center.
Road Safety Management:
Preparing Your LGUs
An online orientation course on road safety and how to draft road safety policies and programs for local government units.
By the end of the course, the participants will be given a Certificate of Completion upon the submission of all requirements as indicated by each topic.
The online course will be available until September 2022. It is the hope that this will also be accessible at the Department of Transportation (DOTr) website.
