Public Stakeholder Consultation for RA 11229 with LGU Muntinlupa
The Center for Policy Studies and Advocacy on Sustainable Development Inc. (The Policy Center), in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Muntinlupa, hosted a public stakeholder consultation regarding RA 11229, or the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act of 2019. It was held on November 24, 2021, over Zoom. Among those invited were LGU officials, baranggay officials, educators, and parents residing in the city.
The speakers were members of The Policy Center: Maria Fatima Villena, Executive Director, Atty. Camille Alcaraz, Trustee, and Amy Rolloque, Trustee. Eng. Famela Macanas gave the welcome address.
Atty. Alcaraz elaborated on the details and importance of the policy to the government officials. After which, Rolloque presented the gravity of road traffic incidents to the youth and what the citizens of Muntinlupa could do to protect them. She also talked about child safety seats (CRS) and introduced the guidelines in choosing a CRS for their private vehicles. Ms. Villena engaged the participants in a roundtable discussion to gain insight into the overall knowledge and attitudes of the participants on the policy and road safety in general.
